Discipleship groups

Together starts here.

In this season of social distancing and limited in-person interactions, we believe connection is more important than ever! Discipleship Groups are still a great place to grow in your relationship with Jesus and with others. Digital groups will be hosted on Zoom and are a perfect opportunity to connect and grow with others.

MISSION & METHOD

(Luke 4:16-20, Matthew 28:18-20, 1 Cor. 11:1, Gal 4:18-19)

We desire to reconcile a lost and dying world into relationship with Christ.  We believe we can do this best by equipping ordinary men and women to make disciples. Our strategy is to do this in a relational, simple, and replicable way.

WHAT IS OUR TARGET?

To build mature disciple makers who are Christ-centered in their hearts, Christ-like in behavior and character, and who embrace Christ’s mission as a way of life.

WHAT IS A DISCIPLESHIP GROUP?

A Discipleship Group (DG) is a small group of people (3-4, same gender) committed to intentionally walking with one another to trust and follow Jesus in obedience.

The aim of a DG is that with the help of the Holy Spirit and one another, we will love Jesus and obey Him.  We will grow in the following areas:

THE WORD

Growth in discipline, understanding, and the ability to handle the Word of God.

THE PRAYER

Growth in active prayer with God and trusting the Lord without ceasing.

THE FELLOWSHIP

Growth in authentic, honest, sharpening community.

OBEDIENCE

Growth in active obedience in all ways and in the fruit of the Spirit.

MULTIPLICATION

Growth in leading people to life in Jesus and making new disciples.

HOW LONG SHOULD A DISCIPLESHIP GROUP LAST?

Each group’s timeline will look a little different.  We want everyone to take the time necessary to go through the process and suggest to plan on a commitment of 12 to 18 months.

WHAT IS THE PROCESS?

A Discipleship Group is both intentional and organic.  Each group will meet regularly for an intentional time of growth in God’s word to go over the week’s Scripture focused assignment, have a disciple making conversation, to come up with a plan of action in response to the Scripture, and pray with one another.  Each group will move through the following four phases:

Phase I - Abide in Christ

Phase II - The Message of Christ

Phase III - Become Like Christ

Phase IV - Serve Christ

AFTER WE COMPLETE THE PROCESS, THEN WHAT?

We know that after a period of walking with one another relationships become close.  Our natural desire is to stick together.  But we believe that part of serving Christ is to disciple others.  The next step to this process is to multiply the Discipleship Group by becoming a disciple maker and facilitating this process in the lives of one to three others.
